PlanChest is a growing collection of imagined exhibitions, each housed within the drawers of a digital plan chest.

Behind the PlanChest

PlanChest is an evolving curatorial project by independent curator Charlie Levine.
Picture
Charlie Levine is an independent curator, cultural strategist, and artistic director with over 15 years' experience in public programming, archive practice, and cross-sector collaboration. She is the Director of Institute of Curiosity & Curating and Co-Director of SqW:Lab.
PlanChest is a growing collection of imagined exhibitions, each housed within the drawers of a digital plan chest. Every drawer holds an archive: a fictional record of an exhibition that never physically took place, but could.

Each series responds to a different theme, Group Show, Solo Show, Museum-Inspired...providing space to visualise Levine’s ongoing curatorial research, inspirations, and methodologies.

PlanChest is both artwork and sketchbook. It is a site for speculative curating: a place to test exhibition-making approaches, explore narrative and form, and reflect on the often-invisible labour behind curatorial practice when traditional institutional or spatial frameworks are absent.

The project is part record-keeping, part provocation. It asks: What does it mean to archive something that never happened?

PlanChest is where the blueprints live. Not-yet-built, but already alive.
